About techwriter.be
A little about myself
This website is owned and maintained by Peter Leyssens. I have had a varied carreer so far, ranging from RTOS development in assembler all the way to marketing. At the same time, I've done some drawing and painting, photography, go, and I studied Japanese. I have a committed interest in many arts, including film and music. And when I don't engage in any of the previous topics, I ponder about them through Western and Eastern philosophy.
In 2012 I decided to work outside the box and turned freelance. You can find my cv on the CV page.
About this website
This website is an experiment in HTML5. It uses only very common features of this new standard, but it turns out that even this is too much for browser vendors to follow. Here is the state of affairs:
- Chrome: site was designed with this browser and works perfectly.
- Firefox: does not adhere to the flex box model, layout is okay but not 100% as intended. Specifically: Firefox adds a white border around the website where the darkish khaki should continue.
- Internet Explorer: where to start ? Internet Explorer doesn't support the HTML5 flex box model at all. That means the boxes shows up below each other instead of side by side. Even in IE9. I don't want to install Windows 8 to test IE10, so I don't bother with IE for the time being. If you are currently using Internet Explorer, I propose you take a look at either Chrome, or the Chrome plugin for IE.
I agree that this is not the ideal world. I am using this website more as an experiment than as a showcase. As I'm learning more about HTML5, expect to see the browser dependent behaviour improve as well.
